How to Bring Our Spiritual Values to the Challenges of Today’s World
a satsang with Dr. James Golden
“We are all on a spiritual journey; a journey home. Some people know about this journey. Some people do not. Regardless, we are all walking the same path and sharing this journey together. For some this journey is a constant struggle filled with suffering, fear, judgement and hatred. For others it is understood to be a sacred opportunity to discover the truth about God, our own true Self and others. It is a path that leads to the embodiment of abiding love, sweet compassion and lasting peace; it is a journey home”
– James Golden
“O friend, where are you going? Where have you come from, and what are you supposed to do? You belong to the Supreme Truth, but you have forgotten your origin. Now is the time to get back on the main road.” – Swami Muktananda
“The dream you are living is your creation. It is your perception of reality that you can change at any time. You have the power to create hell, and you have the power to create heaven. Why not dream a different dream? Why not use your mind, your imagination, and your emotions to dream heaven?
– Don Miguel Ruiz
Can spiritual understanding really make a difference in the “real” world where we see so much violence, hatred and suffering? Is it possible for everyday people to obtain a spiritual wisdom that frees them from suffering and opens their minds and hearts to Universal Love and Peace while living in the world just as it is?
Some people have become disillusioned in this spiritual quest thinking that it is not really possible in “today’s world” where there is so much personal and collective turmoil, suffering and unhappiness. Is it really possible to free ourselves from our own fears, doubts and suffering? Can we actually help others do the same?
The answer is yes…but it is a journey, a journey of self-transformation that allows us to embody the Truth that sets us free. The world is not in conflict with the goal of spiritual realization and transformation personally or collectively. In fact, our daily lives provide endless possibilities for the discovery of what is eternally true and real in us, in others and in the world. It is not the world or other people that stops us from being fully awake, alive and free; it is our own inner attitude. Learning how to free ourselves from our own fears, doubts and unskillfulness and then be able to bring our self-realization and spiritual discoveries to our daily lives, other people and the world IS the path, it IS the way to be free in our own lives right here, right NOW.
